EEOC Nominee Withdraws His Nomination
After an 11 month delay and much partisan rancor, David Palmer, President Bush's nominee to chair the EEOC --- the agency that enforces the federal anti-discrimination laws --- has asked that his nomination be withdrawn. Among the criticisms that have been leveled at Palmer while working in EEOC's litigation enforcement section: filing a disproportionate number of enforcement actions alleging racial discrimination against whites, and focusing on religious discrimination.
